PRS CE Alder Guitar Review
November 3, 2008 by Chazders · Leave a Comment
PRS presented the CE line in 1988 as a high-quality, yet, less expensive bolt-on alternative from their pricier set-neck guitar models. PRS have gained quite a following fan base in the past 20+ years for their familiar feel and superior driving tone as well as for their competitive price point. Read more

Jimi Hendrix The Ultimate Guitar Hero -R.I.P
September 17, 2008 by Chazders · Leave a Comment
The Greatest Guitar Hero, Jimi Hendrix still remains one of the most influential forces in rock music. Pulling unprecedented sounds out of his Fender Strat, Hendrix challenged musicians and guitarists to explore a wild new world of tones and textures, dazzling and confounding guitar greats like Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend and Eric Clapton, who still speak of Hendrix with a hushed reverence. Other players before him might have experimented with feedback and excessive distortion, Hendrix turned those practices into an art fashion. He was the first player to use the whammy bar as an instrument unto itself, making his Stratocaster talk, scream and howl. Read more

Mesa Boogie Formula Pre Recording Amplifier
September 10, 2008 by Chazders · Leave a Comment
Recording engineers know that it’s never been easy to get good guitar tone by “going direct” into a mixer. Yet, for many guitarists with home studios, miking an amplifier to achieve a more natural-sounding live tone isn’t always an option. Maybe you don’t have the best sounding amp and cab setup; perhaps you do, but your home studio environment prevents you from cranking it up. Maybe you’re recording live in a small space and you don’t want your guitar sound to leak into the drums or vocal mikes. Obviously, there are any number of reasons to record directly—and there are number of devices to help you do it.

Leo Fender Stratocaster invention 1954
Contined on from Leo Fenders invention Broadcaster Article.
The third of Fender’s epoch-defining trinity of early guitar designs came in 1954. The impetus for the Stratocaster arose, George Fullerton says, from a demand by Fender’s sales department for an instrument with a vibrato arm. Leo gave them not only that but also a gorgeously contoured refinement of the Telecaster slab body. Like Eames chairs or Gilbert Rohde clocks, the Fender Stratocaster is today recognized as a landmark of mid-century design. The Tele’s sophisticated younger sister helped establish a distinctive Fender tone, which Leo Fender continued to refine right up until the day he sold Fender to CBS in 1965, and continued to pursue in his later guitar and amp designs for Music Man and G&L.

Jenson P10R Speaker Review
If one of your guitar-playing buddies walks up to you and says, “I’ve got the blues,” it could mean one of three things: he just found out his girlfriend’s nick-name is “Back Door Bertha,” he’s a drug pusher or he just had some Jensen P10R speakers installed in his amp. Known as the “blue cap,” “blue bell” or “blue frame,” the original Jensen P10R is considered the ultimate guitar speaker by many tone connoisseurs, and with good reason.
